Weekly Bird in the hand

Here is this week's "Bird in the hand" - the things I am grateful for. It seems a slightly odd collection this week:

  • Book club - This month it was at my house and we read "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks".  A fascinating book with some science, a family story, some history, and bioethics.  We had a great discussion on Friday and I highly recommend this non fiction book about the woman whose cells change research by being the to grown indefinitely in culture - HeLa cells.
  • Mashed potatoes!!  I tried a new gluten free cake recipe this week that used mashed potatoes as one of the main ingredients!! It was delicious.  Who'd have thought that adding mash would create a lovely moist cake that you'd never think was gluten free?!
  • My car, "Bluebell".  I was driving home the other day and was a little sad as I drove. No big problem but I started crying...and suddenly, the windscreen wipers on my car switched themselves on! They were on automatic, but it was a sunny day and there was no water about, but as I cried, they started wiping!  It felt like my car was telling me that there was no need to cry, things would be OK! Little Bluebell was wiping away my tears! What a lovely Bluebell.  It seemed so odd.... - but comforting too.
  • A new customer who shared an intimate and touching story to me about her family to give me some background/understanding on creating a necklace for her and what the significance behind the piece was.  I just love how selling online often leads people to open up and tell me their story.  And it truly does make a difference to then create something, with this story and emotion in your mind.
Have you had a good week this week?  Take a moment to think about the things that you are grateful for this week...... Feel free to share them with us by writing them in the comments section. We'd love to know.....

    I love these posts...

Bluebell is amazing! The universe is amazing, isn't it?

You've inspired me to think about having a weekly post of gratitude, too. I see it causes you to be more in the moment, doesn't it?

Yeah Janet! We should start a "gratitude" movement. Another blogger Sue emailed me today and said she wanted to start blogging once a week on what she is grateful for....Let's get some others to join in! I look forward to reading your posts.

And yes, Bluebell took my breath away! It seems unbelievable but was very touching!
