Life on the ocean wave

A customer in Germany asked me to make her a bangle like my "ride the wave" bangle, but in a larger size.

Hmmm. An interesting request, as now I had to remember how I did the first one!!! Yes, I'm not one of those people that has a little book and fully documents her experiments!  I guess I did enough of that when I was a research scientist.  Luckily I still had the "ride the wave" bangle so managed to figure it out and blended some colors.

Here's the result - a lovely blues bangle - either singing the blues or life on the ocean wave!

Off it went yesterday, across the waves to Hamburg.

Swim with the tide

I recently made a bangle for a good friend of mine.  She has had a really tough 18 months or so and moved house on Tuesday.  I wanted to express something about hoping her life would be better in her new town, her new house, and her life.

So I made her a bangle entitled "swim with the tide"  showing a little fish swimming in the waves.   My hope is that things will begin go her way.  She is a keen swimmer and hopefully now life won't seem like she is always struggling against the tide, and that good things will flow in her direction.

I do so hope she can build herself a happy new life.

Adrift at sea

I had a little time to get back to colored anodized aluminum this week and have made a few new bangles.

This one makes me think of the sparkling clear warm waters in a sunny clime, and just floating out as I look for fish in the water....maybe on a raft.... Possibly this is due to it being a grey rainy day here today!

This was a new dyeing technique I was trying and I like it on the matt finish.  The whole piece feels so nice and smooth.

I have more to show in the next couple of days, using different dyeing techniques, so I hope you'll come back to see!

Shy new friend...

A little sneak preview....

Wanted to introduce you to my new friend...but he's a little shy. He's just come out of the ocean, cold and wet, so staying wrapped up in his towel for now....but maybe when his brother and sister come along, he'll feel braver....
