Dawanda Lovebook Winter 2011/2012

I am delighted to be featured in the 2011/2012 Dawanda Lovebook.  Mine arrived in the mail just today!

If you don't know who Dawanda are - you should! They are the group that I sell my jewelry through in Europe. They are based in Germany and have a German, French and English platform.

I was approached by them a couple of months ago and asked to complete an interview for inclusion.  Dawanda are always sooooooo good to me.  I have been selling with them for quite a few years now - and they really do look after me well. They pass on my info to other media - for example, I appeared in the Sunday New York Times last year because I was found on Dawanda....., they include me in their own promotions....I just can't say enough good things about them!  Here is the inclusion they put in their new Lovebook:

Thanks Dawanda, for spreading the love.  You can see the Lovebook here - and check out all the great sellers and products that they feature. Just in time to get ordering for Xmas!

Dawanda is 3 years old!

Dawanda is three years old! And they featured my songbird necklace on their birthday newsletter, as I am one of "the sellers who have been brightening up the English platform with their lovely products since the very beginning".

You'll notice that my little birdie is right next to Sara's Texture Crafts - who is the Sara from our Merry Go Round! Good to stick together!

I love Dawanda. It has always been my most successful artisan marketplace - so happy birthday to them. You can see their blog post here about it - and they have a little giveaway too!

PS. We passed the test yesterday! All we have to do now for citizenship is the swearing!

Listen to the birds

Some friends came round today and commented on how peaceful our home was. It reminded me of a lovely comment our window cleaner made once.

He said that when he cleans people's windows, he always puts his headphones on and listens to his MP3 player as he works - apart from when he comes to our home. When he is here he says he doesn't bring his MP3 player but instead listens to the many songs of the birds in the garden.

I just love that - and it's so true. It is quiet where we live, apart from the sweet sound of the songs of the birds. At the moment it's the house finches we hear as they look to build nests on ledges in our porch that are much too small!

And people ask why we call our home - (and my business) - "Birdland"! You just need to come here to know why.

So get outside this week, and listen to the birds.... You'll be glad you did. It's a great time of year to hear all their songs.

Here's a little snippet of the house finch's song

Hop to it - rabbit necklace

I recently had a commission request to make a "simple, elegant bunny" necklace that looks "like the songbird necklace". Hmmm - a rabbit that looks like a bird :=D !!!!!!

I've done a charm rabbit before - you may remember "Welsh the Rabbit" ( get the pun???) - but this one needed to be bigger and "simpler".

Doesn't have a name yet......but here he is:

Better hop to it and make something else.....
