Take time to smell the roses

Life frequently seems so busy: so many different things to do, so many calls for our attention, so many distractions..... So we need to remember to take time to smell the roses.    Just think about how it would feel to bend down and stop and smell a rose.  That's quite a powerful image, isn't it: that beautiful perfume; the pretty color of the rose; all those delicate petals. Just thinking about it brings about a sense of calm.

And that's what this bangle is all about. It is a wearable reminder that we need to take time during the day to smell the roses.   Of course, it doesn't have to be roses or smelling anything - just stopping, pausing and breathing deeply and noticing what is around you.

The bangle came about from my first attempt at Adobe Illustrator. Readers of this blog may recall that I've been wanting to try Illustrator for some time, so this little rose was my first attempt. Very basic but I like the soft pinks - and being blonde - I wear quite a bit of pink :-D A dear friend of mine said that blondes should wear pink all the time!

Anyhow I think it would make a nice mother's day gift, or a gift to a busy friend or relative who could do with slowing down a little. What do you think?

Need a hug?

We all need a hug now and again..... and this little guy is here, ready to give you one anytime.

It's perfect as a gift for someone who is going through a difficult time and in need of a hug. A sweet sentiment, to show someone you are with them in spirit and thinking of them, even if you can't always be there to give them a great big hug.

And did you know - It has been found that human contact, such as hugging, is essential for healthy social, psychological and physical development.  Hugging can also help build a good immune system, decrease the risk of heart disease, and decrease levels of the stress hormone cortisol in women.  So get out there and give someone a hug today!

Love birds necklace

I've been finishing off a few more Humphrey and Trisha love bird earrings and used two of them to make a Love Bird necklace including a clutch bar.

With the clutch bar you can hang the birds at whatever length you like - depending on how much in love they are :=D  If they've had a quarrel, they might hang apart from each other...

...but if they are in a romantic mood, they can snuggle up close to each other!

The total chain length is 36 inches so they hang nicely and dance together as you wear them! Are you  love bird?

It's the little things

Here's a new little desk buddy called "It's the little things". He's perfect for Valentine's day - as a gift to either a man or woman - and he could sit on a computer, or on someone's desk and be a constant reminder of your love - and how important just the little things are.

He's a cute little guy - offering up his heart and love.

He's 2 cm tall - but that doesn't diminish the amount of love he can hold. He's solid silver and hand sculpted.

Don't forget - it's the little things in life that count.....

What's in a name?

I need your help. I've made a new piece and at the last count, my husband John and I came up with 17 names for it - and that's discarding the usual silly ones my husband comes up with :-D.

So I'd like your input. It's a new necklace - with a little "anyone" figure - but I don't think this needs to be an "anyone can......" necklace. I was thinking of it more to just fit into the "loved" category of my jewelry. And it is Valentine's day coming up .......

We've whittled down the choices to a mere 6 names:

1. Hold on to love
2. Follow your heart
3. Anyone who had a heart
4. Trip of a lifetime
5. Take heart
6. Don't let love get away
