Wherever you live...

I got some older pieces back today. They had gone to a gallery a couple of months ago and some had sold and the rest were going to be put on sale - so I decided to take them back and try and sell them on my own sites instead. It seemed there were a few house pieces.....so I've re-photographed them and will put them up on my websites.

I used to do a lot of houses and architectural types of pieces. I enjoyed doing them a lot and still do.... like Miriam's castle more recently:

Castle Home

While I was away, the "dreaded" double sale happened! That's where you list the same piece on more than one website - as most people do - but they both sell at exactly the same time! And I was on holiday when it happened.... so couldn't check sales as frequently.


Obviously, it's nice to get the sales, but then you have to go about quickly making a replica and as my pieces are more individual, that's not always easy!


Anyhow - I came back and made the new piece yesterday and both of them are sent off - one to the US and one to Germany! Two little castle homes on their way to new homes!


They did end up very similar -the only real difference being the second one was a bit larger than the first!

Commissions - IV - Miriam's Castle

I finished another commission today. This was a great project that I really enjoyed.

A customer from Ireland had purchased one of my necklaces depicting a castle. When I sent off her necklace, I noticed her address was Old Tower House so when I next emailed her, I asked if she lived in a tower and that was what had attracted her to the castle necklace.

She explained that she looks out at a tower...and then asked if I could make her a necklace of that. So a couple of photos later and a few emails back and forth, and I started making Miriam's Castle.

Making it reminded me of how much I like doing architectural pieces. Miriam asked for a similar style to the previous necklace she had bought, with a touch of whimsy, so I kept it plain, not textured and simple.

It looks like a fascinating building - one I'd like to go and explore...such interesting roof lines and combinations of curves and straight lines.... Wonder how the tower was used?..... Hope Miriam likes her castle...
